Removals in Durham
Removals in Durham you can rely on.
Durham moves come with steep streets, tight parking and plenty of stairs. We're used to all three. We also do a lot of student moves for Durham University students, into halls, between house shares and back home again.

How far is Durham from our base?
about 11 miles, around 20 to 25 minutes by road.
We usually come up the A177 into the city. Durham is also next to the A1(M), so a move from Durham to Newcastle, Leeds, London or anywhere else on the UK mainland is straightforward for us.
What are homes like in Durham?
Durham has everything from old terraced houses on the hills around the city centre, many of them shared student houses, to flats near the river and family homes on the estates further out. The older terraces often have steep front steps and narrow stairs, and a lot of student houses are on the upper floors.
Moving day in Durham: what to know
The streets around the cathedral and the peninsula have restricted access and a road user charge, and much of the city centre is permit parking, so check what applies on your street before moving day. We'll plan the van stop with you. End of term in June and the start of the year in October are the busiest weeks for student moves, so book early for those.

Read them all on Google“Highly recommend sedgefield removals. I used this company recently and found them to be professional, reliable and respectful. My request for a quote was responded to very quickly and a reasonable price was agreed. The price was adjusted when I had to remove some items from the list without any hesitation. On the day the van and 3 men arrived on time and quickly loaded the van. The men were friendly and respectful of my possessions. The van was quickly unloaded and furniture and boxes placed in the correct rooms.”

- Do you do student moves for Durham University?
- Yes. We move students into halls, between shared houses and home again at the end of the year. For a small load a small van keeps the cost down. Book early for June and October.
- Can you move me from Durham to somewhere else in the UK?
- Yes. We cover the whole UK mainland, from Scotland to Devon, and the same crew loads your van in Durham and unloads it at the other end.
- Do I need a parking permit for the van in Durham?
- It depends on your street. Much of the city centre is permit parking and the peninsula has a road user charge. Check with your landlord or the council before the day, and we'll work out where to stop.
- Are you insured?
- Yes. All our removals and transport work is fully insured, from fragile furniture to bulky items, from the moment we pick it up to the moment we put it down.
- Are there any hidden fees?
